Hydro Jet Drain Cleaning

Harben ET180 trailer jetter top, hydro jet drain cleaner

What is Hydro Jet Drain Cleaning?

Hydro jet drain cleaning, also called high pressure drain jetting is the process of using a high pressure water jet nozzle on the end of a long hose, to blast clean sewer pipes.

Pressures used normally range from 3,000 – 4,000 psi but may be as high as 10,000 psi when hard scale or roots are causing recurring blockages.

The jet nozzle blasts a water stream backwards at high velocity. The resulting “rocket” force propels the jetting hose up the drain. It blasts clean the pipe wall and flushes debris back downstream, turning it into slurry, which flows away harmlessly.

The principle of high pressure drain jetting first appeared in 1960’s. Since then, the method has been improved dramatically. In 1980 Harben introduced the principle of “high pressure – low flow” drain cleaning to the US. Just after that we launched the Jump Jet system which dramatically increased the distance that could be cleaned by several hundred feet.

Still today, Harben build the only run dry jetter and for over 50 years our hydro jetters have been clearing blocks, descaling and root cutting in thousands of miles of drains, all over the world.
