In 2003, Zurn Plumbing Services in Atlanta bought a Harben E-180 trailer-mounted water jetter. More than 20 years and thousands of service hours later, it’s still their go-to machine — and the team now calls it Old Faithful.
Built to Take a Beating
Co-owner Matt Zurn says the original draw was the P-style radial piston diaphragm pump design. That bet paid off.
“We’ve had pretty much zero issues with it in 22 years,” Matt says. “Jetting is really hard on components… But other than hoses breaking and replacing the muffler, nothing major has ever gone wrong. We’ve never burned up an engine or had to rebuild the pump.”
Running at 4,000 psi and up to 18 gpm, the machine sees use multiple times a week and still delivers.

The 10-Foot Root Ball
One job in particular cemented Old Faithful’s reputation: a massive 10-foot root ball in a 6-inch residential lateral. Excavation would’ve been expensive and destructive, so the team committed to jetting it out instead.
“The nozzle actually got stuck for a while,” Matt recalls. “We were sweating bullets, but we just kept going after it and finally busted through. It was awesome. And we saved the customer a lot of money.”
The crew spent eight to nine hours on the job and used about 1,200 gallons of water — and the Harben never quit.
Everyday Workhorse, Revenue Driver
Zurn Plumbing relies on the Harben jetter to:
- Clear residential and commercial stoppages
- Clean lines before CIPP lining
- Handle quarterly maintenance for shopping malls
They keep the trailer hooked up most of the time because having it on-site means they can sell and perform jetting work immediately, without fighting Atlanta traffic to go back to the shop.
The machine also supports higher hourly rates and brings in subcontract work from other plumbing companies that don’t own jetters.

Simple Maintenance, Big Confidence
Maintenance is basic: regular oil changes for the engine, pump, and gearbox. In return, the team gets something invaluable — confidence.
“At the end of the day, when we roll out with that machine, I know it’s going to work,” Matt says. “I’ve never seen it fail to get the job done.”

Adding a Second Harben
After more than two decades with Old Faithful, Zurn Plumbing is expanding its Harben lineup.
“We are thrilled to be adding a second harben to our fleet as of 2025. The Harben customer service team is tough to beat, and always willing to help.”
Zurn Plumbing’s story is a powerful reminder of what dependable equipment and skilled operators can achieve together. Harben appreciates Matt and the entire Zurn team for sharing their experience and trusting Harben to be part of their work for more than two decades.
